The clients needed some upgrades to their kitchen. The interior walls were to remain the same, with the exception of removing the old furnace chase. An existing window, which had been covered with drywall by the previous owners, was opened up to allow morning light into the kitchen. The color scheme was based on Neapolitan ice cream – crème, pink, and chocolate. The concrete counters were custom-colored to get the rich, dark chocolate. Instead of framing in the ceiling where the chase was, a solar tube was installed. This brings natural light into the interior of the kitchen that shines through a transom above the pantry door. The overall effect of the changes made makes for a light, bright, welcoming kitchen.
